Students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Osogbo campus, were reportedly subjected to a harrowing ordeal on Monday night after newly recruited Nigerian Army personnel allegedly invaded student hostels, assaulted male students and sexually harassed female students.

The position of the Army was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Army Public Relations Officer, Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, Major Yahaya Ibrahim.

The students moved from their hostels towards Shasha market and stormed the highway, blocking the road from users in protest of the said "unscrupulous" soldiers.

The Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into the alleged assault of UNIOSUN students by soldiers in Osogbo, following a complaint by NANS.
