By Friday, two days after the earthquakes, 920 people had been confirmed dead and more than 3,000 others injured, and the crisis was continuing.

The president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that 1,430 people died in the two 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes.
