Government hikes passport application fees across categories from July 1 - The Economic Times

Passport application fees are set to increase significantly from July 1, 2026, as the Centre amends the Passports Rules, 1980. A standard 36-page passport will now cost Rs 2,500, up from Rs 1,500, with Tatkal applications rising to Rs 5,000. Larger 60-page passports will also see hikes, with normal applications at Rs 3,500 and Tatkal at Rs 6,000. These changes aim to update the fee structure for various passport services.
