The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has cancelled four horse racing meetings – Worcester, Salisbury, Kempton, and Ffos Las – that were scheduled for Wednesday, due to the anticipated severe heat. These cancellations align with the BHA’s hot weather policy, which requires fixtures within a red warning zone to be abandoned and prohibits horses from travelling through such high-risk areas. Ffos Las, despite being just outside the official red warning zone, was called off because participants would have to travel through areas under the highest alert to reach the course. The Met Office has issued a second amber warning for Wednesday and Thursday, covering additional areas including parts of northwest England and North Wales, with concerns about delays on transport networks and the impact of high humidity and warm nights on public health.
