A panel of advisers to FDA gave its endorsement to a seasonal mRNA flu vaccine that was developed by Moderna and that earlier this year became the subject of controversy.

The vaccine was found to be about 27% more effective than the standard flu shot in a late-stage trial. The FDA and the CDC still must sign off on the vaccine before it’s available.

In February, a Trump official refused to review the vaccine.
