Parimal Nathwani, an Independent candidate backed by the NDA, secured a surprise victory in the Jharkhand Rajya Sabha election. He defeated the INDIA bloc's Congress nominee for the second seat. Despite the INDIA bloc appearing to have sufficient numbers, Nathwani's win has caused a stir. The JMM candidate also won his seat.
