The Japanese technology conglomerate announced on Tuesday that Mr Furuta's departure was at his own request. His candidacy as a non-executive director for the upcoming annual shareholders' meeting has been withdrawn. Mr Furuta, who became chairman in 2024 after serving as chief operating officer, said that "the company statement speaks for itself" when contacted. Fujitsu's shares saw little movement after the announcement, largely in line with the benchmark Nikkei 225 index.
