European Union lawmakers have reached an agreement on a major update to air passenger rights, ending more than a decade of negotiations and introducing new protections for travellers across the bloc. The deal, agreed between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, keeps compensation for flight delays of more than three hours, introduces guaranteed free cabin baggage allowances and expands rights for families, children and passengers with disabilities.
