The incident took place around 9.54 am on Monday when a car drove through a fence and into the playground on Vale Road in the Whitby area. Two other children sustained minor injuries in the collision, and the seriously injured boy was taken to hospital. A 63-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the crash. Cheshire Constabulary is currently on scene conducting inquiries to establish the full circumstances of what they believe to be an isolated incident.
