Andy Burnham has said he is “fighting on every front” ahead of the Makerfield by-election, including trying to win the “poster wars” and receiving support from a surprise celebrity. The Mayor of Greater Manchester posted a video on his social media on Saturday (13 June) saying he took it “to heart” when people said he was “losing the poster war,” before revealing a gargantuan 'Vote Andy for Us' poster on the wall. He then said how someone told him other campaigners had celebrity endorsements, at which point British actor and comedian Steve Coogan appeared in the video. Coogan, from Greater Manchester, joked: “Andy wanted a slightly classier celebrity to endorse his campaign, but he had to put up with me instead.”
