An Apache helicopter flown by two U.S. pilots was downed near the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week, with both crewmen surviving the crash.

It’s unclear if the Apache helicopter was shot down by the Iranian military or went down as a result of a technical failure.

President Donald Trump said the attack helicopter was downed by Iran and the aircraft’s pilots were rescued and uninjured.

The incident marks the latest known downed United States aircraft in the region due to the military conflict with Iran.

The US military says the two crew members were rescued by a sea drone and are in stable condition.
