Alexander Zverev has secured his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open. Tennis legend Boris Becker applauded Zverev's achievement after years of hard work and disappointment. Zverev becomes the first German man to win a Slam in three decades. He has now joined an elite group of German male Grand Slam champions.

Zverev, 29, has lost his three previous major finals. This is the first one he will enter as the favorite.

The 29-year-old German world No. 3 had been 0-3 in Grand Slam finals entering Sunday’s Roland Garros final.

The German will jump to No. 4 all-time in career earnings after winning around $3.27 million.
