Traditional leaders in KwaMandlakazi and KwaNongoma say they are struggling to survive after going years without receiving salaries. Some izinduna claim they have worked for up to five years without pay and are now considering resigning, accusing the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs of failing to resolve the crisis. More than 30 izinduna are reportedly affected, with some never having received a salary since taking office.
