Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Kolkata's Rani Rashmoni Avenue to hold a protest march alleging post-poll violence against her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, party leaders and workers. The protest comes amid heightened political tensions following alleged attacks on TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and senior party leader Kalyan Banerjee. The BJP, however, has criticised the proposed demonstration. Reacting to the announcement, BJP leader Rahul Sinha questioned the purpose of the protest and said any public demonstration must be conducted with police permission, stressing that the decision rests with law enforcement authorities.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the incident. He alleged that the lack of security arrangements reflected the BJP's politics. | India News
