Kolkata: Former Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday that there is “an organised attempt” to weaken Trinamool Congress through “intimidation, coercion, and the misuse of administrative machinery” and also called INDIA alliance to take the protests nationally. Banerjee has announced a dharna at 2 PM tomorrow on Rani Rashmoni Road.“If democratic protests are not allowed in Bengal, I am prepared to raise these issues at the national level, including in Delhi and before the INDIA alliance. The Constitution guarantees democratic rights and cannot be denied through administrative restrictions,” she said.“I want to make it clear that an organised attempt is underway to weaken the Trinamool Congress through intimidation, coercion, and the misuse of administrative machinery. MLAs, MPs, panchayat representatives, councillors, and party workers are allegedly being threatened through police action, fear of arrest, and the prospect of investigations by central agencies,” Banerjee said.“Everything else may be taken away, but my principles and convictions cannot be. I am a commoner, I am a free bird now, I will not leave politics, BJP snatched everything from me, but I will never bow before intimidation or misuse of power, Banerjee asserted, while addressing an online message on social media.Banerjee said that the attempts to divide the Trinamool Congress through fear, inducements, or administrative pressure will not succeed. “The party has faced many challenges in the past and emerged stronger because its strength lies with ordinary workers and supporters,” she said.“I will participate in the proposed dharna irrespective of whether stages, microphones, or logistical arrangements are permitted. If prevented from reaching the venue, I will continue the protest wherever I am stopped. Democratic resistance does not depend on infrastructure; it depends on conviction,” she said.Banerjee claimed that democracy cannot function if political choices are dictated through intimidation rather than public mandate.Banerjee said the leaders are threatened to continue to remain with the Trinamool Congress, they may face criminal cases, arrests, or action by agencies such as the ED, CBI, and NIA.“The attack on Abhishek Banerjee was not an isolated incident. It was part of a broader pattern of political aggression and intimidation targeting Trinamool Congress leaders and workers. Security arrangements were allegedly compromised before the incident, and several individuals who attempted to protect him were subsequently targeted,” she said.

Mamata Banerjee alleges an "organized attempt" to weaken the Trinamool Congress through intimidation and misuse of state machinery.
