Meta AI reportedly allowed hackers to take over some of Instagram's most high-profile accounts after they simply asked the company's AI support chatbot to change the email linked to a target profile. According to a report by 404 Media, the alleged exploit was reportedly used against accounts linked to major brands, government organizations and prominent users, raising fresh concerns about the risks of handing critical customer support functions to artificial intelligence.

Attackers are allegedly abusing Meta's AI support assistant to take over Instagram accounts through simple prompts, with the Obama White House account reportedly among the victims.

The exploit shows the extreme risk of offloading technical support to AI.
