The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has reported that around 50 calls have been made to the State Emergency Service with reports including water ingress, flooding, roof damage, structural damage and fallen trees.

Warnings have been issued for residents throughout the state as the weather amps up on Saturday evening.

The powerful weather event is being described as a "once in five-year" storm and is bringing winds of up to 125km/ph.

Thousands of residents in WA are without power after a major storm overnight.

At its peak, the storm wiped out power to 160,000 households.

The low-pressure system, which on Monday was tracking south-east, upended trees, downed power lines and turned roads into rivers.

Wild weather in Perth has left 20,000 homes without power.
