The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of attempting to downplay growing attacks on press freedom in Nigeria, revealing that at least 91 journalists have been arrested, assaulted, or harassed since Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. In a report titled “Tracking Tinubu’s tenure: CPJ exposes Nigeria’s media repression reality,” the international press freedom organisation said the Nigerian government’s repeated denial of attacks against journalists contradicts documented evidence gathered across the country.
