He was visiting the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) prison, which houses thousands of inmates serving life sentences. Madeley's line of questioning to prison director Belarmino Garcia focused on the inmates' living conditions and their lack of activities. His questioning was deemed to have “overstepped the mark”, leading to him and his crew being asked to stop filming and cease their inquiries. Madeley reflected that he might have pushed too far by asking about the conditions within the facility.
