KwaZulu-Natal authorities crackdown on illegal renting of RDP houses using drone technology

Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal have uncovered several RDP houses allegedly being illegally rented out to undocumented foreign nationals following drone surveillance carried out during a government crackdown. The operation, conducted under Operation Nenzani LaEzweni in Mount Moriah, also revealed that some of the properties are now under investigation for suspected links to drug trafficking, human trafficking and other serious crimes. The Department of Human Settlements says further investigations are underway to dismantle alleged housing syndicates and enforce compliance with RDP housing regulations.
