Sen. John Cornyn is just the latest high-profile Republican incumbent to learn that in today’s GOP, conservative credentials are no match for Trump’s grip on the party.

“John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough,” Trump wrote on social media.

Like fellow Republicans exiled by the president, he still accepted Trump’s claim to inhabit the will of the party.
