The German-owned discount retailer now holds an 8.6 per cent share of the grocery market and has been the fastest-growing physical grocery shop for 35 consecutive months. The Lidl Plus loyalty app is reported to account for half of the supermarket's growth over the past year. Tesco remains the dominant market leader with a 28.2 per cent share, followed by Sainsbury's at 15.2 per cent, while Asda saw its takings decrease by 3 per cent. Grocery price inflation has eased to 3.1 per cent, the lowest since December 2024, but the Food and Drink Federation has warned of significantly higher costs later this year.
