Dame Julie Andrews has made a rare public appearance to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease. In a video released by the World Parkinson Coalition on Sunday (24 May), the actor, 90, spoke about the importance of continuing efforts to find a cure for the disease as she welcomed attendees to the seventh World Parkinson’s Congress. "Your participation is invaluable, as we seek to find a cure to this terrible disease. I know well how devastating it can be,” she said. “May we all become a beacon of light to stop it in its tracks,” Dame Julie, who has largely taken a step back from the public eye, added. She provides the voiceover for Lady Whistledown in Netflix’s Bridgerton series.
