A debate about securing a second Scottish independence referendum descended into fresh rows this afternoon amid the fallout from Peter Murrell’s guilty plea over party finances.

Murrell, who was the nationalists' chief executive for 22 years, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh this morning.
