Many of the creatures arrived dead, while the survivors exhibited severe signs of stress and shock, prompting an immediate emergency rescue operation. Veterinarians and specialists from Fundación Temaikèn worked for over 28 hours to stabilise the surviving animals, adapting facilities and installing specialised tanks. Conservationists have hailed the seizure as a significant blow against exotic wildlife trafficking, noting the expanding global trade and describing it as an “industrialised crime”.
