Footage shows heavy traffic out of Beirut’s southern suburb, known as Dahyieh, as residents evacuate following Israeli threats of major strikes on the area, with many fearing a new phase of escalation aimed at destabilising Lebanon.

The Israeli military has warned residents of 10 villages in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh and Jezzine districts to evacuate ahead of what it described as imminent strikes.

Residents have begun leaving the southern suburbs of Beirut after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled an escalation in attacks against Lebanon.
