Dramatic images showed toddlers perched on their parents' shoulders as migrants waded through the sea in Dunkirk before crossing the Channel in six small boats.

Official figures show 681 migrants made the crossing from France in 10 boats on Friday and Saturday. They are the first recorded dinghy arrivals in 13 days.

More than 900 migrants crossed the Channel in 13 boats between Friday and Sunday, with 394 arriving on Friday, 287 on Saturday and a further 231 yesterday.
