West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that TMC's Falta candidate Jahangir Khan withdrew from the May 21 re-election. Adhikari claimed Khan ran away because he could not secure polling agents. The re-election was ordered following allegations of electoral malpractices. A video of Khan's alleged withdrawal has circulated online.

NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir Khan from West Bengal’s Falta constituency on Tuesday withdrew his nomination just two days before the re-polls.

Jahangir Khan said he was doing so for the constituency’s ‘development and the public good’, citing a special package announced by the BJP government.
