Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in announcing the fund in a statement that it was "a lawful process for victims of lawfare and weaponization to be heard and seek redress."

The Trump administration is considering the creation of a $1.776 billion fund to compensate people allied with President Donald Trump for legal fees.

The fund would pay victims of so-called government weaponization.

The fund was created as part of a settlement resolving Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his confidential tax records.
