Verizon Wireless is experiencing a widespread outage Wednesday, prompting responses from emergency management teams in New York City and D.C.

Outage tracker Downdetector showed that Verizon customers began to report issues with their service around noon E.T.

At its peak, the website downdetector showed nearly 173,000 outage reports, as the disruption also impacted users of other networks like T-Mobile and AT&T.

The company is offering affected users account credits after the widespread outage on Wednesday.
