RIYADH: Complex surgery to remove a tumor from the proximal femur extending to the left hip joint using 3D-printing technology has been performed at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre. Patient-specific, 3D-printed cutting guides allowed the team to excise the tumor while preserving the limb, enabling the patient to walk immediately after surgery. High-resolution imaging was used to design the custom guides, minimizing bone loss and improving surgical precision, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
