LONDON: Jordan will call up the first group of conscripts for military service in 2026 after parliament approved the National Service and Reserve Service Law of 2025 with a majority vote on Monday. Jordanian men born in 2007 who turn 18 by Jan. 1, 2026, will serve in the armed forces in February. The annual selection will consist of 6,000 young men, divided into three phases of 2,000 each. Mohammed Momani, the government spokesperson, said that the conscription selection process was conducted using a neutral statistical draw, employing computerized methods and adhering to scientific criteria.
