Speaking during a rally in Brooklyn on Wednesday (5 November), the 34-year-old Democrat told his supporters that they have clinched the victory “against all odds”, after he beat Andrew Cuomo, the former Democratic governor of New York. “If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him,” he said, after securing 50.4 per cent of the vote.
