Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is visiting with President Donald Trump in the White House on Monday, his first since Trump took office.

The talks in Washington were a win for Australia, but at home many are nervous about the relationship.

In an earlier interview that resurfaced in 2024 when he was confirmed as ambassador, Rudd had called Trump ‘a village idiot’ and ‘not a leading intellectual force’
