Virtually every British Jewish community representative organization claims to support a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians. There is also cross-party consensus in the British parliament that this is the most viable solution. Yesterday, the British government finally took a step towards making this policy a reality by recognizing a Palestinian state, with clear conditions that ensure Israel's security, including the disarmament of Hamas and working to free the hostages the group still holds in Gaza.

The Conservative leader (pictured) spoke out amid reports Britain could move forward with the policy as early as Sunday to try to pressure Israel for a ceasefire in Gaza.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce Britain's recognition of a Palestinian state in a statement on Sunday afternoon, the BBC reports.
