President Donald Trump says he is “filled with grief and anger” following the “heinous” assassination of Charlie Kirk on a Utah university campus. Far-right political activist Kirk, who is a close ally of Trump, was fatally shot in the neck while on stage at a Utah Valley University speaking event on Wednesday (10 September), with a manhunt underway to locate the shooter. In a video posted to Truth Social, Trump said: "Tonight, all who knew him and loved him are united in shock and horror. He's a martyr for truth and freedom."

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were quick to show support after conservative media personality Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in Utah.

Kirk, a prominent ally of Trump, was speaking at Utah Valley University when the shooting occurred.
