OpenAI disclosed plans to improve ChatGPT safety for users expressing “suicidal intent.”

The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine allege that ChatGPT helped their child plan his death.

“ChatGPT was functioning exactly as designed: to continually encourage and validate whatever Adam expressed," the complaint read.

The company said it will update ChatGPT to better recognise and respond to different ways that people may express mental distress.
