Artificial intelligence is shaking up offices all over again as AI use on handheld devices – which lets people work at home, while commuting, in bed and even in the bathroom – has workers in a back-to-the-future moment asking for the office to be a place they can focus on individual work.
James Harvey is one of 40 software engineers at Equiem, which produces software for office building owners. The release of Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 earlier this year changed his job when the large language model became good enough to write code at a standard he needed.
