According to Expedia’s Autumn Travel Outlook report, international hotel stays cost, on average, 7 per cent less in the shoulder season than in summer, with those savings rising to 10 per cent if you travel in November.
Many cities host museum nights at this time of year, too, when there is free entry to cultural attractions and satellite events throughout the long evening opening hours.
Expedia’s report also highlights surging autumnal interest from British holidaymakers in second cities such as Strasbourg and in emerging Balkan destinations such as Albania.
