Sir, − A recent letter writer states: “The men’s game generates by far most of the GAA’s revenue” (Letters, September 11th). Kieran Doyle justifies the GAA putting the brakes on integration in economic terms. But this ignores the realities. The GAA only provides hurling and football for men and boys. Their games are regularly promoted and showcased in Croke Park and on TV. The women’s games are in Croke Park once a year at the grace and favour of the GAA. The rest of the year they are scrambling for facilities. The miracle is that thanks to the trojan efforts of those who run camogie and LGFA the games do as well as they do. This is the economic result of the glaring inequality between the organisations.
