A counterattack led by debutant Razaullah Khan helped Pakistan recover from a difficult position and set England a target of 130 on the fourth day.Pakistan were still trailing by two runs when their eighth wicket fell in the last session of day 3. But Razaullah, batting at No. 9, changed the game with an 81 off 63 balls that included nine sixes. The 21-year-old equalled Tim Southee’s record for the most sixes hit on Test debut.Razaullah and Mohammad Abbas added 121 runs for the ninth wicket from 123 balls to take Pakistan into the lead.Pakistan were expected to collapse on the third day after England’s fast bowlers had dominated the first two Tests of the series. Instead, the visitors were bowled out for 449 in the final over of the day, turning a first-innings deficit of 320 into a lead of 129.Shan Masood made 95, captain Babar Azam scored 76 and opener Azan Awais added 59 to keep Pakistan in the contest before Razaullah and Abbas finished the recovery.Razaullah’s first six gave Pakistan the lead. He then hit three sixes in one over off Gus Atkinson, reached his fifty in 43 balls with another six off Jofra Archer, and later cleared the ropes again to take Pakistan past 400.His nine sixes also matched Ben Stokes’ record for the most sixes in a Test innings in England, set during the 2023 Ashes at Lord’s.Abbas scored a career-best 42, including two sixes and five boundaries, before he was dismissed. He received a standing ovation while walking back to the pavilion.Razaullah was stumped for 81 off 63 balls shortly before stumps and also received a standing ovation from the Edgbaston crowd.England will begin the fourth day needing 130 runs to complete a 3-0 series win, which would be their first clean sweep in a three-Test series since beating West Indies at Edgbaston in 2024.
