Law enforcement officers have launched a pretrial investigation into the execution by Russian military personnel of two captured National Guard soldiers near Dobropillia in the Donetsk region.
According to Ukrinform, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office announced this on Telegram.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pretrial investigation has been launched into a criminal proceeding over the commission of a war crime resulting in loss of life (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"On September 2, two servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine were at a firing position in a tree line near Dobropillia. According to the investigation, the Ukrainian defenders, who were carrying out a combat mission, were captured by the occupiers. Subsequently, members of the Russian Armed Forces executed them by shooting them with automatic weapons," the statement said.
