A Russian drone struck a residential area of Zaporizhzhia, destroying a private home and killing a woman, Ukrainian officials reported Friday. The drone hit the city’s private residential sector, sparking fires and leaving people trapped beneath the rubble, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. “A house has been destroyed, and people may be under the rubble,” Fedorov initially reported as emergency crews responded to the attack. Rescuers later pulled two people from the ruins of the destroyed house. Both were examined by medical teams, but one of the victims subsequently died. “Unfortunately, one of those injured as a result of the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia has died,” Fedorov said in an update. The Russian attack was continuing as emergency crews worked at the scene, with authorities issuing a red-level air alert over the threat of additional drones. The latest strike followed an overnight Russian drone attack on Zaporizhzhia that wounded a 32-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son. That barrage damaged the roof of a nine-story residential building and caused fires at an office building and shopping center. Russian attacks elsewhere in Ukraine on Friday also caused civilian casualties, including in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk region.
