The United Arab Emirates has pledged to invest €40 billion ($46 billion) in Germany, with digital infrastructure — including new AI data centers — forming a central part of the commitment.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan traveled to Berlin for a state visit this week, holding talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. A joint declaration issued by the two leaders characterized the visit as arriving at a "defining moment for both countries and for the wider international order."
