The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court said it was impressed with the efforts of Madurai district administration to ensure that Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple consecration was conducted in a smooth manner.A Division Bench of Justices C.V. Karthikeyan and R. Sakthivel dismissed the petitions that sought a direction to the authorities to make arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ceremony.Madurai District Collector had issued instructions to all the authorities concerned. “We find no reason to differ from the view already taken,” the court said.The court took note of the steps taken by Madurai Corporation. The temple authorities had taken steps to ensure that the precincts were cleaned and there would be no obstruction for devotees, who were expected to turn up in large numbers, the court said.“We are confident that the temple administration will follow the long standing and centuries old practice in the Kumbhabhishekam,” the court said. “It would only be prudent on our part to leave the matter to the district administration to take care of steps to be taken for the Kumbhabhishekam. No directions are required,” the court said.The court dismissed the petitions filed by G. Theeran Thirumurugan, M. V. Rameshkumar and G. D. Manikandan of Madurai.
