Saifabad police have moved the court seeking cancellation of bail granted to BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Reddy, who were arrested under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act over alleged abusive remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.The two legislators were arrested on Tuesday following complaints over their alleged remarks against the Speaker. Police had sought their remand, but the court rejected the plea and granted them bail on personal sureties.On Thursday, police approached the court again, seeking cancellation of the relief granted to the two MLCs. The move comes amid continuing action against BRS leaders following Monday’s confrontation between the party’s legislators and police at Gate No. 3 of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.The police case against the MLCs was based on complaints alleging that they used abusive language against the Speaker. Their arrest under the SC/ST Act had triggered a political confrontation, with BRS leaders questioning the action and seeking an independent examination of CCTV footage of the Assembly gate incident.The latest petition seeking cancellation of bail adds another legal dimension to the confrontation, which has already resulted in multiple FIRs, arrests and the suspension of BRS legislators from the Assembly for the remainder of the monsoon session.
