Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday ahead of a weekend summit of the BRICS nations in New Delhi, as the two countries seek to strengthen longstanding ties while India also deepens its strategic and economic relationships with the West.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi on Friday morning ahead of the BRICS summit. India, which is hosting the summit, will seek to balance its ties with China and Russia against its growing partnerships with the United States and other Western powers.
