adsThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have begun moves to investigate the alleged diversion and mismanagement of funds provided to organisations under United States government-supported programmes in Nigeria.

The agencies are also seeking to deepen intelligence sharing and operational cooperation in tracing the funds and determining how they were managed after the United States government discontinued some of the programmes in 2025.

The development followed a meeting on Thursday, when Marcus Maccain, Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché of the FBI, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Bawa Usman Kaltungo, Acting Zonal Director, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the EFCC.
