A 67-year-old woman was hacked to death in her compound in Malindi, Kilifi County, over witchcraft claims.
Police said Wakesho Righa of Kajajini Village was attacked after being accused of practising witchcraft.
The woman was hacked several times on the back of the head using a sharp object.
Righa was found lying in a pool of blood in her front yard, next to a charcoal burner that investigators believe she had been preparing to light.
Her 10-year-old granddaughter, who lived with her, had reportedly gone to a neighbour’s home about 50 metres away to play.
