The CNN Money Fear and Greed Index showed a decline in overall market sentiment, while the index remained in the “Fear” zone on Thursday.

U.S. stocks settled lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 300 points during the session as US crude oil prices surpassed $100 per barrel, amid rising concerns of higher inflation.

Headline PPI rose 0.4% month-over-month, in line with forecasts, but the annual rate accelerated to 5.4% from a revised 4.8%, topping the 5.3% consensus.

Markets are now pricing roughly a 70% chance of a 25-basis-point Fed hike following the release of PPI data.

The consumer price index is scheduled for release on Friday, with headline CPI seen holding at 3.4% and core easing to 2.4%.
